We are able to offer you a fine range of handmade mattress in a number of qualities. Although we are able to offer you many more qualities, over the years of dealing in Antique French Beds and supplying mattresses, we rarely seem to do anything other than the examples below.

All of our sprung mattresses have a pair of handles fitted to each side to help with moving them and also there are ventilation holes to help air circulate through the mattress.

We are also able to offer Memory Sleep mattresses, see below for details.

All our mattresses are made entirely to the specification you provide. The prices shown are for all of the mattresses at standard sizes – there is a 15% increase for a non-standard size or cut-out corner for a four poster bed etc.

The fitted bases we are able to offer are all made to specification, therefore, we can make them to maximise the available mattress width, but also to alter the overall mattress height. Sometimes, with the French beds, we will put the base on the inside of the side rail, this means that the mattress will be lower and suit the bed more, you can see this in the image below.

we are able to offer a range of standard Divan bases with, or without drawers, with or without sprung edges.

Mattresses

Trent: The Trent mattress is the lighter weight of our two open coil mattresses. this is a very springy mattress and quite adequate for occasional use.

Super luxus:  Our standard mattress is the very best of the 'Open Coil' mattresses. This quality we tend to suggest for a bed that is not slept in all the time as the mattress does not give the very best support, but is perfectly adequate for lighter use. This mattress is also great for use on children's beds.

Carlton:  The first of our 'Pocket Sprung' range. This is a superb mattress and probably our most requested. It gives excellent support and yet isn't too firm. This is a mattress that you really can sink into. It is a dual layer construction and requires turning once a year ( it is always good to turn more if you can face it ! ). Approximately 1300 springs, each housed within individual fabric pockets. The beauty of this is that each spring is independent of the next, therefore eliminating the “rollover” effect you find with an open coil mattress.

Beverley:  This is the very top end of our handmade pocket sprung mattresses. Again, this is a dual layer pocket sprung mattress, however, rather than the standard 1300 springs for the Carlton, this mattress has a further 250. This really is a fantastic mattress and we can honestly say it is amongst the very best mattresses we have ever used, real luxury.

Memory Sleep: This mattress was originally developed by NASA engineers to reduce pressure during space travel. It began to be applied to the medical industry for therapeutic properties shortly after. Bed bases

Solid top:  This basically means that the base we use for the supporting of your mattress has a “solid top”rather than the sprung bases. The solid top does give you a great support and will help to ensure your mattress stays perfectly flat and helps keep your back in good shape!

The sprung base:  This base is very comfortable, however, it does make your bed feel very soft, this is something to bear in mind if you need good back support.
