| Our worldwide antiques delivery service |
For our deliveries within the UK ( up to Glasgow / Edinburgh ) we use our own vans with experienced drivers. Deliveries in the UK are ALL charged at a standard rate to cover our costs. This is due to ever increasing fuel and labour. We will always try to do multiple deliveries so as to spread the cost of a day between 2 or more customers. The way we work out your delivery cost is by postcodes. For example: Our postcode is LE15 6EA, Oakham, Rutland Delivery postcode is SW11 5PE, Battersea, London. The distance door to door is 124 miles, so the round trip is 248 miles. We charge 50p per mile making your delivery £124 which includes one driver. However, if the delivery is for a large piece of furniture and will require two people to handle the item we have to look at hiring some further help, this cost we suggest is split between the customer and us to help. ( on average, a further cost of £25 for a London trip ). Just out of interest, the average cost for the large courier firms is £1.10 + vat per mile. When we deliver one of our French Antique beds, we do show you how to put the bed together and explain how to attach the fitted base etc, so that if you need to move the bed in the future. If you are further north than Edinburgh, there is no problem as we would use a specialist courier to help and have had customers as far north as The Isle of Lewis and Inverness. For our customers in France, we are able to offer a full personal delivery service here too, we have been furnishing properties in the South for many years now and have regular trips every 4 weeks or so. We try to visit as many customers as possible on one trip out to keep the costs as low as possible, however if you need a specific delivery we would be happy to deliver directly to you. For deliveries further than this, we tend to use shipping agents to arrange either airfreight or sea freight on door to door services, depending on where you are and the urgency. We can also arrange for pieces to be sent to your nearest port or airport for you to then arrange onward travel yourselves. This is often a more reasonable way of getting deliveries to you.
