Swans of Oakham

Swans is a family firm, established in 1984, initially selling only period English antiques - something which Peter, the senior partner had dabbled in since 1960.

Over the years, the business expanded towards the more unusual decorative pieces and in the early 90's, became one of the first to start specialising in French antique beds. With Peter's wife, Linda's involvement, soft furnishing, antique linen, tapestries etc. became a regular part of the stock along with decorative accessories, ceramics, lamps and mirrors both old and new.

Finally, Tom the youngest son, joined the firm 6 years ago and has helped to source individually made reproduction pieces. In particular, our own range of hand painted furniture - faithful copies of original pieces, made and painted in our own workshops and this year, a range of oak and cherry wood furniture including our paneled 4-poster beds. Add to this a range of reclaimed Walnut furniture made in Italy to exceptionally high standards, then you have Swans, the interior decorator's dream.

If you can't find it in our fourteen showroom 16th century premises in Oakham then we have two warehouses, two restorers in our workshops and three joinery workshops and we will make it for you!

Enjoy your browse through our 21st century shop, but better still, come and see us in Oakham. We are in the centre of England and open six days a week. Monday to Saturday 9:00am - 5:30pm. Sundays and "Out of Hours," by welcome appointment - please don`t hesitate to call.
